Dr Chao ZHOU is currently a research assistant professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He received his BEng (2009) and PhD (2014) from Tsinghua University and HKUST, respectively.

His research focuses on theoretical constitutive modelling and experimental investigation of cyclic thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviour of saturated and unsaturated soils, with applications to high-speed railway embankments and geo-energy problems such as energy piles and methane hydrates.
