Annie finished her MPhil under Prof. Charles Ng in 2016, investigating how hydrogen sulfide could be removed using GGBS-amended soil. She is now working at R&D at Acoustic Metamaterials Group Ltd, Hong Kong.

Her current work looks at using acoustic metamaterials to change the way we interact with sound and provide noise control solutions in conditions conventional materials cannot address. Metamaterial is not in itself a new material – solids are shaped to form various geometries for different resonances, and can enable achieve near-perfect noise absorption (more than 99%). Acoustic performance in conditions previously impossible with conventional materials such as foam and rock wool are now also possible. Applications are diverse and include sectors such as HVAC, Power & Energy,  and Transport and Consumer Electronics.
