Dr. Kaewsong obtained her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Charles Ng in 2017, investigating small-strain stiffness of unsaturated collapsible loess.
This research revealed how wetting affects the shear behavior by means of the combination of two effects, i.e. the soil structure change produced by either plastic compression or elastic swelling and the hardening/softening action of capillary tension at inter-particle contacts.
Dr. Kaewsong is now a lecturer at Walailak University (WU) in Thailand. Her research interests involve experimental and theoretical study of chemo-hydro-mechanical behavior of unsaturated soil.
