Dr Raymond Koo developed his research expertise in debris flow hazard and mitigation measures during his PhD studies in HKUST. He is currently a Geotechnical Engineer at the Geotechnical Engineering Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department in Hong Kong.

Ir Dr Raymond Law obtained his BEng, MPhil and PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His PhD research topic was “Computational Study of Granular Debris Flow Impact on Rigid Barriers and Baffles”. He is currently a Geotechnical Engineer in the Geotechnical Engineering Office, Hong Kong. He has over 10 years of focused research in debris flow mechanics and interactions of debris with structures. He has used numerical tools such as the discrete element method, as well as physical flume model tests. Also, he has solid experience in the design of natural terrain mitigation measures in Hong Kong.
