Dr. G. H. Lei is a Professor at the Geotechnical Research Institute of Hohai University. He received his doctoral degree in HKUST in 2001. His research focuses on the theories of consolidation and shear strength of soft soil.
Dr Dongri SONG is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chengdu, China. His research focus is on the dynamics of debris flow and its related hazards, including (1) effects of solid-fluid interaction on the debris avalanche (debris flow) dynamics; and (2) mechanisms of debris avalanche (debris flow)-structure interaction.
Prof. Dr. Zhen-Dong Cui is the Dean of Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology. In July 2008, he obtained his PhD from the School of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai, China. He was then a postdoctoral research fellow in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for one year from July 2008 to Aug 2009.
Dr Gordon Gongdan Zhou graduated with a bachelor degree at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou in 2005, and then came to HKUST. During his doctoral studies, he pioneered debris flow research within Prof. Ng’s group, finishing his PhD in 2010.
Dr. Ni Junjun received his doctoral degree in 2017. During his Ph.D. study, his research was about the application of vegetation on slope stability and landfill cover. His research revealed the importance of hydrological reinforcement of plants on slope stability considering the effects of planting spacing and mixed plant types.
